2008 Hollywood Black Film Festival Best Music Video

Revolution was awarded Best Music Video at the 2008 Hollywood Black Film Festival, beating out the Give It To Me video by Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, and Nelly Furtado! This year, HBFF screened 119 films over the course of their 6 day celebration of black film. This was Revolution’s third award, and a great way to end its spree of seven festivals over the past ten weeks.

The Hollywood Black Film Festival (HBFF), dubbed “The Black Sundance,” is an annual 6-day celebration of black cinema drawing together established and rising filmmakers, popular film and television stars, writers, industry executives, emerging artists and diverse audiences from Southern California and around the world. HBFF 2008 attendees enjoyed a whirlwind of six days hustling to see films, attending panels and workshops at the adjunct Infotainment Conference, and partying into the wee hours of the night.

WINNER: SAIFF Best Music Video Award!

Revolution was awarded Best Music Video at the 2008 Sweet Auburn International Film Festival on Saturday May 11th. The awards ceremony was held at the King Center - the official, living memorial dedicated to the advancement of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. SAIFF hosted over 40 films this year from three different countries. Revolution was among five films to highlight hip hop music.

SAIFF: Best Music Video - Acceptance Speech
The mission of SAIFF is to showcase short films, music videos, documentaries, screenplays and full length features from around the globe. Traditionally the Sweet Auburn SpringFest has been the #1 street festival in the Southeast and it still is today. The festival has been around for 25 years. More than 500,000 patrons visit the street festival each year. With the addition of the film festival several doors has been opened for talented filmmakers.

This year the festival honored Bill Nunn (Pictured Above - School Daze, Do The Right Thing, Spiderman), Afeni Shakur (Tupac’s “dear” mama), and Kenny Leon (Director of A Raisin In The Sun 2008) for their outstanding work in the field of black entertainment. This was Revolution’s first award at a black film festival and it was a privilege to be acknowledged at the King Center amongst such influential leaders in black entertainment .

WINNER: RIFF Audience Choice Award!

Revolution received the Audience Award for Best Music Video at the 2008 Rincon International Film Festival. Over 60 films from 14 countries were screened this year. Revolution was one of ten music videos selected for the competition, and was so well received by the audience that they elected it for this award. The award demonstrated the true power of the people. We got this cool trophy too!

Revolution will be screening next at the Sweet Auburn International Film Festival on Thursday May 8th @6pm at the Auburn Avenue Research Library - 101 Auburn Avenue NE Atlanta, GA 30303.
